COMPETITION FORMAT

- All Nations will play each other over the weekend.

- Each match will comprise of 2 rounds. 1st round being 2 doubles and the 2nd round

being 1 singles and 1 triples.

- Each Nation will have a team of 4 players.

- All players must be 55 or over at anytime during 2021.

- Each Nation can bring one manager / coach if required.

- All players MUST have a Petanque licence for the country they are representing.

- With 6 nations playing, the minimum number of piste’s required would be 6

(2 games per match x 3 matches per round)

- Each nation will take it in turns to host the event starting with England in 2020.

QUESTIONS TO BE DISCUSSED (with replies so far):-

- Each nation will be responsible for providing morning coffee, a lunch for Saturday and Sunday and also an end of tournament meal / buffet determined by the home nation.

All meals etc will be paid for by the players or their nation. (Est £25 / £30 per person ??)

Agreed - Guernsey / England

- Each nation will provide transport for the other nations (if required) to and from the

airport etc to their accommodation.

Better to Provide Own transport - Guernsey / England

- If during a year the event cannot field an even number of Nations then the

Home Nation for that year will be allowed to field an extra team.

Agreed - Guernsey / England

- Do we need an official qualified umpire? (or can the players sort it out themselves?)

If available yes - England

Do we need to wear national kit ?

Yes it looks more professional

Agreed - England

Shall we keep it to the same weekend each year to keep the organising etc simple?

This will be linked with the question below. If it is being played in non championship years then I think it would be better to keep it on the same weekend

Agreed - England

Do we want to run this event each year or just when there is NOT a CEP European Championships?

Running the event in a year when there is no CEP championships will mean that the

costs for each nation will be lower and will also make the organisation easier as the

event can be held on the same weekend at the end of the season.

It would be good to have 6 teams playing in the event so to make it up to 6 the home

Team can have an extra team and a combined team can be made up between the

Nations

Agreed - England
